WHAT SPECIFIC NEEDS DO NEUTERED CATS HAVE AND HOW DOES ERA MEET THEM?

Sterilization in cats is an increasingly common practice. The sterilization process produces significant changes in their hormonal behavior, and therefore in their nutritional requirements, so a change in their diet is recommended once they have been sterilized.

*Based on a study published in the Journal of Animal Las & Interdisciplinary Animal Welfare Studies, Population Control: Cats in the Wild, Veterinary Perspective”

MORE THAN 80% OF DOMESTIC CATS ARE STERILIZED

OVERWEIGHT AND CARDIOVASCULAR PROBLEMS

"STERILIZED CATS ARE 3.4 TIMES MORE PRONE TO BE OBESE THAN NON-STERILIZED"

Cats have a highly developed sexual instinct, and once they are neutered, this instinct decreases by 100% in females and up to 90% in males. This makes them much calmer, slows down their metabolism, and causes them to gain weight, which is why the supply of food supplemented with compounds such as L-carnitine is completely necessary.

URINARY PROBLEMS

The domestic cat descends from the African wildcat of the desert. This feline is used to living far from water, so it has evolved to be very resistant to dehydration. However, in the case of neutered cats, they usually drink less water because their physical activity is reduced, making them more prone to urinary problems than non-neutered cats, which directly affects the functioning of their urinary tracts.

ALL OUR RECIPES CONTAIN 10% MOISTURE

Most cat foods have very low percentages of moisture in their formulas (generally less than 10%).

L-CARNITINE

It's an amino acid that accelerates fat burning and body weight loss, without causing a nutritional imbalance in the cat's body by receiving fewer nutrients than necessary or less food that prevents satiety. Thus, a higher percentage of L-carnitine allows for healthy weight loss without leading to common health problems in cats "subjected to diets" such as feline hepatic lipidosis, a serious condition that affects cats with nutritional problems.

In addition, thanks to its properties, L-carnitine also helps reduce the storage of fat, both in body mass and in the bloodstream. Therefore, it is considered an adjuvant in the treatment of cardiovascular problems and heart disease in cats.

For greater cardiovascular protection, we also include taurine, plants, and red fruits rich in bioflavonoids in all recipes, which benefit cardiovascular protection.

ADULT FORMULA

60 mg/kg of L-carnitine

STERILIZED FORMULA

75 mg/kg of L-carnitine

The metabolism of the sterilized cat slows down, therefore, it's necessary to give it a special feed that contains fewer levels of calories, generates more satiety and helps control urinary problems.

NON-STERILIZED ADULT FORMULA

Metabolizable energy value: 3770 kcal/kg.

STERILIZED ADULT FORMULA

Metabolizable energy value: 3540 kcal/kg.

AND HOW TO MAKE THEM DRINK MORE WATER?

In addition to changing the water at least twice a day and offering more wet food, the feed must have a high percentage of moisture and a higher percentage of sodium than other feeds not intended for sterilized cats, to generate a greater sensation of thirst. and thus provoke the urge to drink.

NON-STERILIZED ADULT FORMULA

0.60% sodium

STERILIZED ADULT FORMULA

Up to 1.20% sodium

TAURINE

It's an essential amino acid that is involved in many vital processes in felines, such as the proper functioning of the heart, brain, and nervous system. As if that weren't enough, it's also important for the reproduction of females and the growth of the fetus. It's also necessary to form bile salts that aid digestion. Taurine is found as a free amino acid in the heart and eyes and is not part of protein. Most mammals can synthesize taurine from other amino acids. However, cats cannot synthesize a sufficient amount and therefore must acquire a sufficient amount of additional taurine from the diet to meet their needs.
